Southbound Storrs Lake Segment
Beautiful forest views, gave way to a wade through the swamp, where I finally threw in the towel.
Here, someone had added some pebble eyes and a little stick to enhance a mouth, turning a hollow tree into a smiling forest spirit.
I hiked south along the Ice Age National Scenic Trail from the Bowers Road parking lot, I wore my high wading boots, and was determined to push through the flooded portion of the trail. I failed in that, but it was still an interesting adventure in the capabilities of an old man.
