What could be better than enjoying a shady spot on a warm summer day, and drinking in the beauty of this glorious land? ¿Qué podría ser mejor que disfrutar de un lugar con sombra en un día caluroso de verano , y beber en la belleza de esta tierra gloriosa ?
This house was the residence of an elderly Polish immigrant couple, August and Barbara Kruza . It was built in about 1884, and moved to Old World Wisconsin from its original location near the town of Hofa Park in Shawano County, Wisconsin (USA). The house is constructed of short sections of logs, embedded in mortar, more or less as if they had been bricks. The door on the left opens on the chicken coop. The barrel in the foreground is a rain barrel on a wheeled cart, which was apparently for watering the garden in the middle left of the frame. The back wall of the garden is covered with beautiful and unusual flowering plants.
This is the Schottler farm in the German area at Old World Wisconsin, near Eagle, Wisconsin (USA). It is an example of what a prosperous German immigrant farm might have looked like in about the year 1870.
