Autumn Janesville, Rock County, Wisconsin (USA.) The park contains many large oaks, which serve as obstacles for a rather large frisbe golf course.
There is a little picnic area at Aztalan, just outside the city wall in the south end of the site. There is no particular significance to this image. I just thought it was a pretty view from one of the picnic tables. Aztalan was first settled around 900 CE by a Native American culture known as the Middle Mississippian tradition. The chief center of a Middle Mississippian settlement is at Cahokia, in present-day Illinois, a city that at its peak had 20,000–30,000 people. This was not surpassed by Europeans in North America until after 1800. These settlements are characterized by the construction of earthwork mounds, stockades, and houses, by decorated Mississippian culture pottery, and agricultural practices. There are also elements of the Woodland culture found there. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aztalan_State_Park
Looking toward the main platform mound from across the habitation area and plaza. The mound was built in several stages, growing larger with each stage. There is evidence of a structure on top of the mound. Two walls from the large central plaza ran up the mound to the structure as though directing the leader to his public gathering space, which would have been used for major ceremonies.
