This is Viola Sororia, the common blue violet.
The common dandelion (Taraxacum officinale) is a member of the Asteraceae or sunflower family. I've been digging them out of my front yard for years, but I've recently noticed that they're really quite pretty, and have an interesting little button in the center as they unfold.
